Nonetheless, I'm going with the professor. Better in just about every stat, from ERA to HR/9. More playoff innings pitched. More ways to get it done. I'm more confident he'd find a way.
Interestingly, both have losing playoff records. |

Date: August 18th, 2026 8:40 AM Author: Ivan Bourne Tall III This. Game 6 of 96 told me all I need to know about him. He dominated game 2 I remember it was like 4-0 or something. Then game 6 Yankees had all the momentum and if he was a big game pitcher he would have held it together but he gave up 3 out of the gate and Yankee Stadium was out of control. I was there the upper deck was shaking. He pitched well the rest of the game but it was over at that point and even though Yankees gave up 2 runs and and an opportunity to lose that game, everyone knew they were winning at that point. Those 3 runs he gave up Girardi got the triple, jeter got an rbi and I think Bernie then got one. He got bombarded that inning.
Opposite side of the spectrum Yankees were up in game 7 of 01 but when unit came in relief you just got the vibe it was over for the Yankees because one run wasn’t comfortable enough with a crowd like that even with Mariano. |
