i have been on heavy hip hop for two years - biggie, eminem, tribe, naughty by nature, kendrick, royce da 5'9", etc.
i recently re-read peter hook's "inside new order" memoir for the fourth or fifth time (it is truly 180), so i started going down a new order/JD rabbit hole. i have branched out a bit to smiths, the fall, etc.
back when i was 18-19, i listened to NOTHING, and i mean nothing, except the smiths and morrissey. in 1997, morrissey toured in support of Maladjusted and i went to see him 5-6 times. it was 180. |

Date: September 9th, 2024 9:40 AM Author: Flushed stage i hope he shows up. there's some website that tracks his cancellation rate throughout his career. of the shows tracked (seems like all, but maybe they missed some), he cancels more than 20% of the time. this is particularly bad in recent years.
other than seeing him in 97, i also saw him twice in 2000 (at the 930 in dc and at a similarly sized club in boston), then 2012 (at the strathmore, which is an opera house in bethesda, md), and then in 2018 at the anthem in DC. guy is still good as shit live, for sure.
i got a ticket to see him in 2022 around thanksgiving and he canceled. i think i got other tickets to his shows and he canceled, but not 100% sure i am remembering that right. |
