all this cash is coming from insurance companies. my shitlawyer mentioned the option of suing the guy who hit me for his assets, but i'm not that greedy.

I had a PI client yell at me today because he wants his money. Its a premises case and those are harder to force settlement, and he was mad that his hoodrat friends got "their money faster" from what I presume are car crash cases.

i've been very respectful of my shitlawyer and have never nagged him about anything. it appears that he's returning the favor as he's very prompt to respond when i have a real question or update.

I call flame

There is no partial payment. There is only one final settlement. Your lawyer is holding back the full settlement for some reason. You need to ask why

I haven't done a pi case in many years but iirc this can happen if there are multiple insurers or is there are medical liens that have to be negotiated (either the defbro or ops lawyer might have a duty to hold that money back)

Cr, two insurers involved in my case. three checks received today: one final settlement from one insurer, two checks for medical costs from second insurer, more cash likely to come from second insurer.

I've seen a few settlement agreements with structured settlements, even though I don't do much PI

Edit: nvm though bc ur comment probably still stands if OP didn't elect to do that

i'm OP and not a lawyer, and now i realize the title is misleading because i'm not a lawyer (thank god). two insurers involved here. final settlement reached with one insurer. second insurer has only paid medical costs and has an open claim that will pay out within two months according to my shitlawyer.

The second insurance is probably your own carrier, unless you were driving for uber or something

There can be two policies

Frequently if there's a ui claim this will be the case. Some others situations as well

Had a client bitch me out over email at 530pm that we are dragging out his lawsuit, that I've spent like $500 trying to serve defendant, using skip trace service, chasing him all over town at fake addresses and vacant houses, when client didn't even take down the guy's license or info at the scene and now we have to serve by pub

Also, he sends this email right after I ACH'd him $7k of a $14k settlement on a TRULY shitty case that happened like 3 weeks before the lawsuit one and had like $1,000 in med

Also he is wearing a karate outfit with a black belt in his Gmail pic
