but you also must consider that these studies don't have a control group for healthy marriages that end in divorce, because that doesn't happen. a shitty family life correlates with divorce, and that shitty family life fucks up kids.
consider a kid like spjr. would he but more or less fucked up if his mom remained married to someone abusing him? of course not.
divorce is like an amputation. people with amputated limbs are less healthy on average than people that don't. but many of these people would have been even worse off without the amputation. it's an extreme remedy that should be a final resort. but if your wife becomes even more extreme bpd crazy, perhaps your kids would tend to turn out better if they only had to endure her half the time. |

you've got the right mindset to strongly default towards "stay together for the kids." but things can be so bad that the kids would be better off with their parents separated. |
