Yeah sort of. It's kind of fun to spend more time in his world, but the story becomes sprawling and unfocused and you start running out of reasons to turn pages.
Doesn’t this happen with every fantasy series epic in scope? There’s a reason the trilogy is such a staple imo. Even better if you can get it done in one novel. Leaving some things open to suggestion and vaguely mysterious is important imo.
