that's kind of what i mean with the pinkerton shit. it's a gut-wrenching album that put all his bullshit on full display. it's understandable that he would retreat into facile pop stardom after how badly the album was trashed. he himself said he couldn't listen to it for years, was a constantly embarrassment, and he only began to appreciate it years later. |

fun show. got there a little late so missed dinosaur jr, and only caught about 2/3 of the flaming lips set. the crowd was (not unsurprisingly) mostly 40 and 50yo dudes. they played 5 tracks from pinkerton which was pretty SWeet, and obviously the whole blue album from start to finish. there was a video playing in the background which accompanied the whole thing but it was pretty lame. overall, it made me feel happy but old. also there was no encore.
