Lovely little place. Nice people, generally not scammy, prosperous clean and safe, not much wrong with it. Interesting history, beautiful old city. Everybody speaks completely perfect English. Pretty crowded because it's pretty small, it's an island but no real beaches more like rocky shore lines. But generally very nice little place.

Cypriots are more conniving than the worst of Greece or Turkey. Cyprus has a beach or two, but the island is full of thieves and untrustworthy swarthy people. Very seedy.

I think this might be right. Maltese as a whole are not seedy or conniving people, I saw a lot of hallmarks of a generally honest and high-trust peoples. But Cypriots might well be scumbags.

I've been there. I think they are broadly comparable. Cyprus is much bigger than Malta, Malta is like 10 miles across, Cyprus is 100s of miles across. Similar climate, similar tax advantages for certain foreigners. Similarly well developed, although I think Malta is a bit more prosperous but they're both European level first world. Both EU member countries.

Disturbingly large number of niggers lurking around the streets in Cyprus, there's some way that Africans easily get into North Cyprus (the Turkish-occupied part) and then sneak across into Cyprus proper (the Greek-controlled, unoccupied, EU-member part) and the Cypriots can't do anything about it.

The business one was 1800000 because when the locals tried to do regular stuff for me I was like NO. and they bent over backwards to show me things off the beaten path, got me a driver, had me in their homes etc

One thing, I don't know that it's an eating destination, especially if you don't like rabbit. Despite the geographic and cultural proximity to Italy I had two of the very worst pizzas in my life in Malta, and didn't see much else beyond the usual mediterranean vacation steaks/burgers/pasta joints - did I miss anything special to eat that I need to find next time?

marsaxlokk was 180.

I'd been there before and told them I wanted to go back and they brought me to the greatest place, but idk what that's called now. It was seafood. If you haven't been there it's like saint tropez in the 60s before it was hot, just a fishing village.

they (along with Ireland and Cyprus) have "non-domiciled" taxation, so you might be fully resident there, but if you are "not domiciled" there (because you and your father weren't born there so that it isn't your "permanent home"), then you only pay tax on what you remit into the country, and any income you generate outside the country and leave outside the country is not subject to any tax there, and because you are nonetheless fully resident there you are not resident and therefore not liable to tax anywhere else either, so no tax liability at all anywhere, fully above board and legit

(unless you're a U.S. citizen lol)

Don't they have an exception where after x number of years u are in fact fully taxed. Portugal definitely has that rule that it only excepts you first 10 years or so. Israel too.

bump for fulano, RSF, TT, others. Heading here for 9-10 days next month.

Probably staying in Valletta for 3-4 nights, Gozo for 2-3, then one more spot on the main island 3-4.

Will rent a car after leaving Valletta and probably keep it for the rest of the trip.

Looking for cr restaurants, beaches, historic shit, hidden wine taverns, etc.

Never been to Gozo but most people seem to prefer it. Ive been to comino but wouldnt recommend the trek if you are going to gozo anyway, which you should with this amount of time

Valletta is great but 4 nights is a lot. You can do everythng in a day, so 3 days 2 nights is more than enough.

Marsaxlokk is just a fishing village but was a highlight. Not sure its big enough to spend the night, but its close to teh airport and can make an interesting first stop.

Hagar Qim is pretty cool imo. I would definitely recommend going there. Mdina as well for a day.

my favorite hotel is the intercontinental. Its located in a dump of a town called St Julians but most towns there are dumps. What makes it 180 is their club lounge. its like a 24/7 open buffet and open bar. They may have downscaled this because lol people were drinking them out of house and home when I was there. (a bunch of israelis literally never left it https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=3588058&mc=18&forum_id=2). its worth staying there just for free shit. There is a connected restaruant on the water that was really pretty good and a trash beach.

THere are very few beaches on the main island - it's a heavily congested place and i think there are more cars there than people. Would just avoid that and save the beaches for Gozo. It's still warm enough to swim in September vs the rest of europe.

They have their own version of uber - not sure what it is called anymore. If you want I can try to find my driver's card. Reasonable local rates that a local set up for me and then when I returned I used him again. not a scam.

I cant remember shit, I get Malta and Cyprus confused. I think tehre's lots of Ruskie trash in Malta, one taxi dood was complaining abt too many "migrants" in Malta which was lolzy cause he was a subhuman Ruskie

They had a lot of Turds working, or maybe that was Cyprus actually

I think that capital city of Malta is pretty gorgeous, tahts the only place I went but i recall it was quite gorgeous like a tanned man's ass sorta but not quite but if u are drunk enough u cld pretend malta is a man's ass its sorta kyoot sized and stuff like that no homo

Malta is 180, there's a Soo CR aerospace museum. Also walk around Valetta, go to the bunkers they used to direct air defense during WW2 and even though it's cheesy do the Malta Experience, it has a good synopsis of the history. Also beaches and boozing with CHAVS. There's a great autobiography called Malta Spitfire Pilot about this guy's experiences during the war, give it a read if you can. Some quaint fishing towns, another small island caled Gozo I think and I've been told some dragon show shit, but never saw dragon show.
