What's this about PE hiring junior bankers out of JPM and Jamie is pissed about it?
What am I missing? What's the big deal if a banker jumps to PE?

What he's pissed about is that the PE firms have moved the hiring process so far forward that guys will already have a PE job lined up like 2 years in advance, when they're just starting their banking job. So they don't give a shit about their banking job and they are just passing the time.
I'm not really sure how this is avoidable though.

You don't understand. These banks spend a lot of time and money training and investing in their junior analysts, including providing them with heat/cooling, electricity and internet access in the office 24/7 so they can work around the clock to make edits to powerpoint decks at 2AM and other high value add activities.
When these analysts then go to leave for better opportunities, it disrupts the bank's human capital and operating process. And any disruption for global investment banks is a major social crisis in America.
