On my walk home, I saw it—flames flickering beneath the highway, shadows of people huddled close. A makeshift community, sharing warmth in the cold Seattle night.
A man called out, “Got a dollar, NIGGA?” I didn’t. I just shook my head and kept walking. But part of me wanted to stay, to sit by the fire and feel something real, even for a moment.
The city isn’t collapsing. It’s adapting to its own decay.
