I have to hand it to Lena Dunham. Girls did this very openly. Season 1 is a good slice of early 2010s white UMC American drama, a nice historical artifact. She then got The Treatment. Season 2, first frame of first episode, she's taking a BBC. |

So then they wrote themselves into a corner where the only way to use her in the plot was as an obstructive cunt who opposes the main plot and themes of the show, which is intrinsically a boring crappy character. Her best parts were when she helped him launder money and hide shit. A better angle if rewriting from the start would be more co-conspirator stuff since the show is mostly about crimes and the show already has sufficient conflict without having a bunch of lying to your wife/divorce subplots.
