My assumption is if your credit qualifies you to borrow from a p2p platform then you would have downside from being sued over some tiny ass loan

It's marginally profitable to be a lender when you factor in the opportunity cost of your time spent lending on the p2p sites versus putting the same $ in a simple market index fund (eg semiconductor etf) and never looking at it
