What happens after the election is going too, in large part, be determined by whether they want to remain a viable national party or just a bunch of bomb throwers. Because they very well could become irrelevant.
In 2030, they will lose another 6-8 EVs. But in 2020's census the Rs/Trump states got screwed to the tune of 16-25 EVs. If THAT is even partially corrected, R gains would be in the neighborhood of 20-25 EVs, putting the electoral college out of reach for another decade. That combined with the bad senate hands they will be played and the likelihood of a Trump economic revival, they will be hard pressed to win anything.
They are going to have to push out the prog nutjobs, get real on energy/nukes to save the techhies who are dumping them, find SOME appeal to the working class, and ditch the transoid-woke crap or lose ALL families.

both parties have enormous internal fault lines, and for a while it appeared that the Dems would stay united and the Republicans would fracture (Trumpmos vs DC elite wing).
now it's not clear. the first emerging crack in the Dems comes from the Muslim Dems. if Kamala loses, will DNC still keep appointing nominees or will they allow Dem primaries to choose their nominee?

Let's not get carried away. There are still more Dems than Cons in America. The Electoral College helps but you would rather be the Democrats right now. A generic Democrat, even someone like Tim Walz at the top of the ticket likely beats Trump.
The two elections Dems will have lost to Trump will be entirely because they went with two unlikeable women to deliver on their promise of DEI and to respect the Dem order of succession which is deeply meaningful in their party for reasons I can't fathom.
Cons still aren't serious about winning and can't find any good senate candidates. There are nowhere near enough good Republicans in Congress. It's going to ping pong back and forth indefinitely.
