The car was parked on private property on Fraternity Row and belonged to a friend of Gallegos. The owner of the car was not present at the time. Gallegos and two of his friends heard the car alarms go off and went to investigate the scene when they saw a man already inside the car, claiming it as his own and stating that he had a gun.
