*spends ten white knuckle hours crafting a beautiful brief*

*receives email*

Subject: Can you come see me? (EOM)

walks in, looks like pen had period on brief.

No no, its just, its so simple, look, you just need to start with the *furious illegible scribbling* then *arrows, crossing paragraphs out* that's it!

You just need to reorganize this. It's all in there, so this shouldn't take long. Just--where you talk about the facts, we need a reverse chronology with the law woven in. So just reverse the order and move the law into the analysis and it should be done. Should be easy. We need this done tonight.

Oh, and you need to bluebook this when you are done. I noticed that several of your cites, while compliant, use the secondary method as opposed to the primary. I prefer that all cites in my brief are done in the primary blue book manner.

And please make sure you are double spacing after periods. I eyeballed it and it looks like you may be single spacing. I can't tell. Single spacing looks very unprofessional. Again, I can't tell in this case, but be aware of it because I do not want to send anything out that looks unprofessional. When I clerked for Judge Famous Asshole, he would summarily deny motions single spaced after a period. Probably should have granted that one stay, turned out the guy WAS innocent. HA! But really, make sure.

Feels good, right? Like the scent of the smoke from the first wood-burning fires of the fall wafting from the chimneys of the neighborhood into the shock blue afternoon sky, you traipsing through piles of leaves on your way home from school, your friends around you, laughing, telling tales. It's the hometaste, the hearthfeel -- you're back where you belong and everything is right with the world, safe and sound, ensconced in the womb of enlightenment that is the law and the firm and the partners who have watched you grow up, from first rattle word step through your procession of graduations, the scuffs and slips and scrapes, traveling days of youthful sport fraud lie, then the day they send you away to the Academy of the Law, in a flash, you've returned to begin your first internship in the law mines, reaching the Point of Ascendancy, receiving the chain of associateship that still hangs against the back hangar hook of your 2 x 2 corner cubby closet, you glancing admiringly at it from time to time as you dive into the jurisprudential depths of this spun thread golden glory tome that is our civilization's hallmark; that autumn fire is in you now, the memorable smoke, Proustian flame, drifting round the cerebral folds and curves of your mind's eye, tracing its long tale from the day of your birth to the day of your death when, at last, final slow shallow breath passing through dry-crack maw, less an act of respiration than a soulful whisper, you can rejoin the law, eternal in death, for you are home once again.

I'm positive I saw a case like this before. It was a district court in the Northeast, in the 90's or maybe the late 80's. I think one of the parties was an LLC. Please find that case.

You sure of the timeframe? LLCs really didn't become a thing until the late 90s. Maybe it was an S Corp?

Hmmmm. Good catch. Well, I know it was the 90's, so I guess it could have been the late 90's or the early oughts. On the other hand, maybe it was an LLP and some other time in the 90's or late 80's. Please check all the possibilities (including that at this point it could be puncuated as L.L.C, LLC, LLP, or L.L.P.). Thanks.

Thank. I am also going to include limited partnerships (LP, L.P.) because I have noticed sometimes that the case summary writers for Westlaw confuse them with LLPs on occasion. This doesn't seem to be an issue for Lexus though. Interesting. Additionally, I will additionally include S Corps. and C. Corps.

I remember spending most of Monday grimly analyzing their firm bios to see what schools produced true retards and how they hid that in their bios.
