I was in chemistry class when I heard he had been shot, and in algebra 2 when I heard he had died. It was shocking, but did not upend my world. I remember thinking that it was a pretty sad society when a President could be unelected like that, and immediately wondered if LBJ and Ladybird had anything to do with it. I had heard a lot of LBJ stories out of Texas and Ladybird always brought Lady MacBeth to mind. Apparently that occurred to other people, as "MacBird" was written a years later. We had a school dance planned that week, but it was called off. Our community was split. A lot of people hated Kennedy and thought he should have been killed.
Later I happened to be watching TV when Ruby shot Oswald during live coverage. I was talking to my cousin on the phone when it happened and I remember being so rattled I stuttered from the big adrenaline rush.
I also remember when RFK was shot. I was driving through southern Illinois and stopped for gas in the wee hours after hearing the news on the radio. The attendant (you didn't pump your own gas then) said, "Son of a bitch got what he deserved." Later I stayed many times at the Ambassador Hotel and always thought about the night RFK was killed.

Incredible. I'm always interested in hearing where people were and what went through their minds at pivotal moments in history.
On a related note, have you ever heard of the conspiracy theories that George H.W. Bush is actually the son of Nikola Tesla's German accountant, George H. Scherff? As the story goes, Hitler's bodyguard, Otto Skorenzy, gave a deathbed confession claiming that in 1938, Hitler sent 14-year-old George H.W. Bush (then known as George H. Scherff, Jr.) to the USA to befriend & kill Nikola Tesla. It's further alleged that Prescott Bush was a known nazi who adopted George Scherff Jr. and forged a birth certificate so he would become George H.W. Bush.
There's at least some credibility to the idea of Prescott Bush being associated with Nazis: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar
But the rest of it seems a little too conspiratorial. Nevertheless, H.W. was involved in some crazy stuff, like possibly working for the CIA as early as 1963 and having a direct role in Kennedy's assassination.

I remember when the Pittsburgh airport had a hotel on the mezzanine level above the ticket counters. There also was a real movie theater in the TWA terminal there. Never spent much time in St. Louis or Detroit airports. I remember when Dulles was nearly empty and you could park in front of the terminal for $2/day. Jetways weren't universal when I was in college, and prop airplanes still flew a lot of routes (DC-6/7; Electra; Constellation). Flying used to be much more relaxed and even elegant. There was no security, people dressed up to travel, and food was generally served, often of pretty good quality. On the shuttle flights up and down both coasts you just walked onto the plane then after it got into the air they rolled a cart down the aisle and took your money. Of course smoking was universal. There were so called non smoking rows, but the planes were smokey throughout. Even pipes and cigars were allowed on many airlines. The flight attendants were all women and were selected based on looks, with weight limits. Some airlines (Pacific Southwest) had stewardesses in hot pants. Continental had a slogan, "We move our tails for you." Pan Am was probably the most elegant US airline. TWA was pretty nice, too. I remember my first TWA 747 flight when it was a new plane. It had a piano bar on the upper deck. I was more energetic then, but I actually looked forward to air travel. Now it feels like abuse. If I win the lottery I'm heading to Netjets.
