For lunch I ordered a furking club sandwich, not bad 7/10. Cost like $6.54
Actually arnd 4pm I tried to walk arnd but its literally impossible. Like the streets are so full of traffic, the sidewalk dies in places. I tried to go near river and it smelled like feces. I dont think I can even walk anywhere
Now I ordered a buritto and taco for $6.23
I'm moving to an apt tomorrow where I can at least walk somewhat, like there's two malls within walking distance and another two a bit further off

What's the point of living in these 3rd world hell holes of you still have to pay $7 for a sandwich?
I thought the whole appeal was that you can live like a long on $50/month.

**Original Post:**
**Poster:** *AZNgirl throwing her panties at Pope in Asia*
**Subject:** "I haven't gone outside all day in TTT JAKARTA"
**Body:**
This post follows the classic *Azn* pattern of being a travelogue mixed with exaggerated complaints and a somewhat cynical tone about life abroad. The frequent mention of food prices and ratings, mundane details about ordering meals, and mocking of the location’s infrastructure are all familiar motifs in *Azn's* poasts. As an American expat known for his over-the-top narratives, including the failed sailboat project, *Azn* portrays Jakarta as a chaotic, nearly unlivable city. The comment about a river smelling like "feces" amplifies his discontent.
The post's humor lies in the absurd contrast between what you’d expect of a city experience—exploration, culture, adventure—and the mundane and disappointing reality he presents. His posts usually exaggerate the lack of quality in the countries he visits while simultaneously displaying how disconnected he is from the local culture and challenges, which draws both criticism and amusement from the board. Jakarta becomes the latest victim in his running list of places where he's *stuck* or dissatisfied.
**Key Insights from Other Posters:**
1. **VoteRepublican (A true Chad!! where's your gf/wifew?)**
- **Post:**
"What's wrong with capital city? You get highest views from tallest skyscraper and also best cultural artifacts/transportation."
**Analysis:**
*VoteRepublican* plays the role of an apologist here, questioning why *Azn* is so critical of Jakarta when the city, like any capital, should offer the best the country has in terms of views, transportation, and culture. This response reflects *VoteRepublican's* recurring posts, where he often compares cities or experiences from a more favorable light, challenging the pessimism on the board. In this case, he subtly positions Jakarta as a misunderstood gem, calling out *Azn's* narrow perspective.
2. **"''''''''''''''''''"**
- **Post:**
"What is your native language?"
**Analysis:**
This cryptically monikered poster, fitting the XO trend of quotemos/pumos, directly questions *Azn’s* credibility. The "native language" question challenges *Azn* on his cultural understanding and ability to navigate the world he critiques. The implication is that *Azn* is out of touch, perhaps misunderstanding or exaggerating his frustrations due to language barriers or his own biases. This kind of subtle flame is common on AutoAdmit, where even simple questions carry an undercurrent of skepticism or mocking.
3. **Uranist (Bande-au-ciel!!)**
- **Post:**
"What do you do all day? Read the internet from your hotel room for hours?"
**Analysis:**
*Uranist* zeroes in on the root of *Azn's* complaints: boredom and lack of engagement. The implication here is that *Azn* isn’t truly experiencing Jakarta but instead sitting in his room, disconnected from the city. This is a subtle dig at *Azn’s* habit of traveling but not immersing himself in the local culture—an ironic twist for someone who constantly shares stories about different places. *Uranist's* challenge is a common trope on XO, where posters often question each other’s authenticity or motives, especially when it comes to exaggerated travel stories.
4. **AZNgirl throwing her panties at Pope in Asia** (Reply)
- **Post:**
"I like big cities but plz list ONE decent place in Indo that is somewhat livable. I've been all over this faggot country and NEVER seen such a place. Vietnam in contrast has TONS of second tier cities like Danang, Vung Tau, Hoi An etc that are veddy livable."
**Analysis:**
In classic *Azn* fashion, the response ramps up the negativity by generalizing an entire country as unlivable, while contrasting it with the "livable" cities of Vietnam. This illustrates *Azn's* habit of making sweeping generalizations about entire regions or countries, casting them as inferior in his world-traveling narrative. It’s notable that *Azn* dismisses Jakarta entirely rather than engaging with any of *VoteRepublican’s* points, which shows his preference for doubling down on his own experiences over debate. This is typical of *Azn*, who often shuts down counter-arguments with more hyperbolic claims.
5. **Uranist (Bande-au-ciel!!)**
- **Post:**
"What do you do all day? Read the internet from your hotel room for hours?"
**Analysis:**
This cuts into the reality of *Azn's* situation, painting him as someone who's stuck in a cycle of ordering food and browsing the web, disconnected from the life of the city he's supposedly living in. The question isn't meant for a real answer but to highlight *Azn's* perceived shallowness in his international lifestyle. It's a sarcastic dig, common in XO threads where flame wars happen between those projecting exaggerated lifestyles.
6. **VoteRepublican (A true Chad!! where's your gf/wifew?)** (2nd post)
- **Post:**
"It is Very Warm outside—hard to get around without a/c car."
**Analysis:**
*VoteRepublican* seems to offer a more practical explanation for *Azn's* frustrations, shifting from critique to empathizing with the difficulty of navigating Jakarta due to the heat. By framing Jakarta’s layout and weather as understandable challenges, *VoteRepublican* offers an alternative to *Azn's* full dismissal of the city, grounding the post in a more nuanced view of urban living in Southeast Asia.
7. **Imgur.com/a/IkQnGlr**
- **Post:**
"Go SOUTH or gtfo out Jakarta. lol@ doing anything downtown except change buses. There's no 'river' you should be able to see with your naked eyes unless you're a sanitation worker."
**Analysis:**
This post plays into the recurring AutoAdmit theme of brutally mocking fellow posters' lack of knowledge or street smarts. The poster ridicules *Azn* for trying to engage with downtown Jakarta as if it were a typical tourist destination, and jokes about the river not even being visible unless you’re in sanitation work. It’s a sharp, dismissive response that highlights *Azn’s* naivety when it comes to navigating a challenging city like Jakarta.
**Board Culture and Dynamics:**
The exchanges in this thread are typical of the *AutoAdmit* culture. While it may seem like a forum for hostile back-and-forths, there’s often an underlying sense of camaraderie and a shared understanding of the exaggerations and over-the-top personas people play. The humor is biting, and there’s a constant battle for credibility, whether it’s through travel stories, legal expertise, or just witty comebacks. Flame wars on *XO* are often not malicious but part of the culture’s competitive verbal sparring.
Additionally, *Azn*’s multi-month boat restoration narrative plays into a broader *XO* theme of failed projects or exaggerated personal endeavors. The board has seen various posters claim dubious achievements, from restoring old cars to starting grand businesses, and when these stories unravel, they become board-wide memes.
---
In this thread, *Azn* continues his role as the self-proclaimed globetrotter while the others push back, questioning his experiences, subtly flaming him for his narrow view of Jakarta, and keeping the banter rolling.

She flew to Jakarta from Sydney and had a 12 hour layover in Jakarta before flying to Sorong.
“You stay in Sorong and catch either a 9am ferry or 2pm ferry from Sorong to Waisai, and from Waisai you get a longtail boat to the islands which is anywhere from one hour to six hours.”
According to Lonely Planet, most visitors arrive by plane at Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong, which lies in Indonesia’s West Papua province and receives regular flights from Jakarta.
There are small aircraft to take you to Waisai, the capital of the district of Raja Ampat, or alternatively, you can take a ferry from the port of Sorong to the islands.
