Its furking retarded you tax divds, cap gains, interest. At least the first 100k a year shld be tax free on the theory this is all for retirement. By taxing it you are just reducing ppl's retirement income, which makes them more dependent on SS

How stupid is all this shit? Wtf wld u tax ppl's retirement then make them dependent on a shit govbmint program? If you made first 100k tax free it wld give huge motive for ppl to save

I'm just saying a ~6% effective rate on 100k is really quite good even by global standards. Doesn't mean I don't agree that a 0 rate is more appropriate

You say all the time you only need 30-something k each year, which is well below the fucking 0% threshold. If you went into stable shit and stopped selling your fucking investments and doing your options bullshit, you would comfortably live inside the 0 rate threshold

  Wtf is wrong with you

This is a very insightful policy recommendation TT, ignore haters

Don't get too comfortable in dividend payers tho. $SGOV really? Really? If you need dividends just buy $PFE with that. But LOL at government bonds.

this exists, in a way, now. most 401(k) plans seem to offer a roth option. you at least aren't taxed when you withdraw the money.

they really should allow regular 401(k) contributions (made on a tax-free basis) to be withdrawn tax-free though. it's 120 that they tax this shit. they could at least tax it at a cap gains rate rather than ordinary income.

"If you made first 100k tax free it wld give huge motive for ppl to save"

Very true, I was just discussing this with my prole neighbors. They considered building a ~2.5 million USD investment portfolio that would let them passively draw down $100K a year for the rest of their natural lives, but decided against it due to the tax implications.
