Alexandria Egypt?

Ptolemy famously hijacked the body of Alexander while it was being transported from Babylon (where Alexander died) back to Macedon, taking it to Egypt instead. There was a tradition in Macedonian kingship where burying the previous king was a powerful symbol of legitimacy for the new king. Ptolemy stole the body to enhance his claim as Alexanders successor, and undermine the claims of his rivals.

There are stories of many famous romans later visiting the body of Alexander in Alexandria, where it was supposedly preserved and encased in some sort of clear covering which allowed visitors to see the body. However, modern archeologists have never been able to locate the tomb
