Need to organize a group din before the BUCKEYES v. Texas game. What are some good options where they can take a group of 10 or more either at a table or private room. Don't GAF if fancy just want DAT GOOD BEEF.

wouldn't be surprised if all of these are already booked, but gl.

fancy old school: jeffery's. ballerest place in town. $$$$ and a little posh for 10 bros on a pre-game, but i dunno it could be totally taken over by donor class footballmos and be kind of interesting.

fancy new school: j carvers. great restaurant group, this would be my choice for 180 food with a party vibe.

less fancy old school austin local spot: austin land and cattle. close to campus, will be full of UT alums throwing down wine and cocktails. this would be the most fun but it sounds like you're a BUCKEYES fan so not great.

if all of those fail, try the big chain places in this order: perry's, dean's, bob's, iii forks, capital grille, flemings. also consider trulucks and eddie v's, which are seafood places that both crank out great steaks and have the capacity for your crew.

oh yeah there's also lonesome dove, which is a fancy texas themed steakhouse that really leans into wild game. i grew up eating wild game so it never really wowed me, but it's a solid steakhouse.

if all else fails book lamberts, a fancy bbq place downtown with steaks and a ton of space. honestly i'd take this over a lot of the big chain spots.

Damn didn’t realize Vince Young Steakhouse had closed that’s a bummer/also hilarious and completely on brand. I haven’t been but I know people jock Garrison. I haven’t been in probably almost 15 years but I used to always think Jeffrey’s was overrated. It was the only real place for years before Austin blew up and it benefitted from the larger nostalgia sentiment of people in Austin and people who visit regularly eg for lege purposes. I always thought Bob’s did it right and was a “chain” only in the sense that it was a DFW place that did well in a very competitive steakhouse market and then expanded a bit to Austin/SA and has random restaurants in like 5 other states. But I also realize that all of my steakhouse takes are extremely dated and mostly evolved in my late 20s as a law firm associate when I was much more easily impressed.

poor vince really fucked everything up, but he's still a nice guy and horns will always love him.

fair criticism of jeffrey's, but they did a major refresh ~15 years ago. not sure if you've been but it's totally different than the GWB-era.

major edit: the game is at 6:30. most of these places don't even open until 5, which is way too tight. ALC opens at 4 which is tight but doable given how close it is. perry's opens at 4, too and is downtown. lambert's is open all day.

worth calling around to see if any of them are opening early just for the game, they're leaving a ton of money on the table if not.
