also, what other options are there for shows that convey complex modern issues in a fairly unbiased way that is honest about the faults of every tribe? if there were a bunch of wire or sopranos out there that would be one thing, but if you're gonna watch TV is anyone saying Wandavision is better?

plus for xo the wire is entertaining because there are countless scenes of niggers acting like niggers and levy is one of the only honest depictions of a scumbag like lawyer ever made.

and smart person should be able to get through das kaptial and understand what it's saying, and it's a worthwhile experience just to understand something important even if you disagree with it. that's valuable even if you think it sucks shit. in fact to intelligently be able to say it sucks shit you must understand and read it.

worth a try maybe. s1 sucks but it gets really good after (sucks only because of over reliance on gangster shit which you might like). worthwhile to force yourself to get through just to be more aware of references in the zeitgeist. like how reading the bible is valuable if you want to understand themes presented elsewhere even if you're an atheist.

i think ive watched almost everything i care to watch. ive seen the sopranos, rome, got, two seasons of true detective, and a handful of other shows. have no interest in the wire. didn't like succession. watched a couple seasons of boardwalk empire but got grossed out by the incest storyline and stopped watching. etc etc. not much left for me. won't miss it once my promo price runs out.

Eastbound and Down is excellent but I think I have Righteous Gemstones ahead of it. To your point, to love Eastbound and Down you have to enjoy the concept of Danny McBride playing John Rocker, but Gemstones has more balance.

Game of Thrones and Succession are the other Max shows that are generally thought to be first ballot HoF golden age of TV defining shows.

Barry and Six Feet Under are more hit or miss, but the highs are very high.

it is the most most philosophical and deep show ever made when it comes to exploring the causes of cyclical crime and poverty. it's the only one that tackles it honestly and with nuance.

yeah, hamsterdam is an unrealistic lib fever dream. but it ultimately failed because libs are spineless and opportunistic. despite carcetti seeing that it worked he used it as a tool to gain power, and when he had power he abandoned any attempt to fix the problem the pursue greater power. rawls also sees that it worked but crushes because his career is more important than doing his job. and bunny is ruined for even attempting it.

i guess you can stick to historical dramas and fantasy. there's no other show that comes close to treating inner city crime with the nuance and honesty of the wire, despite it's flaws, and i don't have much hope we'll see another when even lotr has magical niggers in it. if more people watched the wire they'd be less susceptible to woke ideas like "niggers are criminals because of white supremacy".
