Age: 40 in a few weeks wtf.
Height: 6' 1".
Weight: Haven't weighed myself in over two years. I'm going to weigh myself first thing tomorrow morning before I eat or drink anything. Definitely north of 220 lbs. How far north? I'll find out tomorrow morning.

I've been overweight for two years, and I've failed to get to a healthy weight and stay at that weight during the entire time. My diet is pretty boring and healthy, but my appetite seems to be all fucked up from stress. I was in great shape until my mid 30s when my gut started growing slowly. At this point I'm frustrated with my inability to lose weight and keep it off, and I'm just too worried about my health now after being fat for years, so I'm starting Wegovy. I took the first pill this morning.
It takes a few months to ramp up to the maintenance dose, so I'm not sure how much it'll help in the beginning. In the meantime, I'm going to add in strength training to my exercise routine, which has just been at least an hour of cardio every single day. I'm going to reduce calories slowly. I used to have a binge eating problem, and my doctor told me to be very careful not to cut out too many calories too quickly because the binge eating could resurface.

the idea that I need to know every single micronutrient and its effects offhand in order to know that they're important is probably the dumbest thing I've seen on xo this week.
fortunately I do have this information readily accessible in Dr. Ballantyne's excellent book, the Nutrivore Quickstart Guide.

Wanted to weigh myself this morning, but the batteries in my electric scale are dead. Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning now after I get new batteries.
Today is day 2 of taking this pill. Not sure if the pill is already working or if it's some other cause, but I didn't feel as hungry as I normally do this morning for breakfast, so I ate less than usual.

Update: Yesterday I weighed an even 262.0 lbs, but that was right before my morning shit. Today I weighed myself after shitting, and it came in at 260.9 lbs.
After seeing 262 lbs on the scale yesterday I freaked out and immediately started reducing portions for all my meals and also cut out a few things. My guess is I cut out around 500 calories.

I'm unemployed, and I have trash insurance that doesn't cover weight loss drugs. So I went with the cheapest option, which is the Wegovy pill. I don't know enough about the alternatives to speak about the pros and cons other than cost.
I eat virtually the same food every day, and a long time ago I did calculate how many calories I was consuming per day. I don't remember the exact number, but I don't actively track calories because, again, I eat virtually the same food every day. I know that what I was eating a week ago was making me fat, so I'm just eating smaller portions of every single meal and/or cutting out specific foods entirely. It seems like a hassle to track every meal, anyway, since I eat six times a day. I'd rather just measure two things once a week: my weight and my waist size, and then adjust my diet accordingly.

Okay I had ChatGPT estimate the calories and macronutrients. I didn't list brands for some foods, so it has some uncertainty.
Total calories: 2,900 - 3,350
Protein: ~205 g
Carbs: ~320 g
Fat: ~110 g
According to my Apple Watch, I burn about 1,150 calories per day though my daily cardio and lots of walking. Not sure how reliable/accurate that is.
Basal metabolic rate is around 2,200 calories per day.
If these numbers are indeed accurate-enough, I might have a slight calorie deficit. But it looks like there's room to cut a little more, so I'll adjust.

180 I'm losing weight. First official weigh in (early morning, no breakfast, after my morning shit) was 260.9 lbs. This morning under the same conditions I weighed in at 256.8 lbs -- a drop of 4.1 lbs in one week. I still look like a fat fuck obviously, but I've noticed that my shirts feel slightly less tight at the waist.
Going to keep my diet as-is for the time being. I think my Apple Watch is underestimating how many calories I burn through exercise and walking.

Update: Two weeks in and I continue to lose weight.
Starting weight: 260.9 lbs
One week ago: 256.8 lbs
This morning: 254.9 lbs
For consistency I measure my weight in the morning after using the bathroom and before I eat or drink anything.
My gut is still enormous and disgusting, but it feels subtly smaller. Still a long way to go.
