Raw power, the series X is like half of a 3090 if that. And it's also based on an AMD gpu, and the 3090 absolutely blew the fucking doors off the top-end RX 6900 in ray-traced applications, so a reasonable projection is that the 3090 can beat a series x by a factor of 3.5x-4.5x in apples to apples ray traced games.
The 3090 runs at 20-25fps 4k everything maxed DLSS off. So we're looking at like 6fps on a series X. DLSS gets you to 60fps but it starts to be borderline in terms of being sharp enough. And DLSS is likely much better than whatever upscaling will be in the series x.
So basically, series x, to use "ray tracing" is going to be running this at 30fps medium settings blurry as fuck because it's rendering the game at 720p and upscaling. |

Currently it runs at 1080p/60 or 1600p/30 with low quality textures on series X, i.e. garbage.
MS should also have their DLSS equivalent running in 12 months. |

Maxed raytracing is MANDATORY in cyberpunk. The series x will not perform like a 2080 ti or even close. It would still be a ways behind in rasterized performance but don't forget that the ti also has dedicated cores for DLSS and ray tracing.
We're (mostly) seeing what the series x can do with cyberpunk right now. If it just had this massive amount of power to throw at the game, it would be running the game at last-gen specs 4k 60fps no problem. It's nowhere near that. Tweaking the settings around isn't going to give the chip more power. |
