in contrast in SE asia they barely do shit, HCMC cannot even open its first metro line which is only 20km and took 15 years or something to build
india's big issues with cleanliness and sidewalks and honking cld actually be fixed in a year if there was political will but there's none and local govts absolutely suck shit in india |

I first went there a little over 20 years ago and in many ways it is already completely different from then. You can see the importance of local governments in a place like Calcutta. That city is a sad, crumbling, decaying shithole with no future, the growth of the rest of India has completely passed it by. And that seems to be because of the SPS literal communist local government. |
