think about it: both are anti-foreign war, both are anti-immigration, both hate the establishments of both parties and see them as actually one monoparty.
the only difference is that the populists want to redistribute wealth through the market via tariffs on foreign goods, antitrusting megacorps, etc. and only full on tankie communists (rare) want to do something like try communism again. most are bernie bros which are essentially populists but want more shit like universal healthcare. that's exactly why so many bernie voters went to trump. i'd say that communist left is akin to the groyper right in that they are part of a radical fringe advocating for something that 98% of the people think is stupid or impossible. |
