Assume TSLA drops by another 50% tomorrow. Elon's current fortune is instantly cut in half overnight from where it currently is, which is already down a whopping ~25% from where it was a few months ago. Oh shit!
Assume also that Elon Musk is suddenly banned from ever being able to earn another cent again for the rest of his life. He has to cash out all of his equities at the bottom price tomorrow, and then hold his fortune in straight cash for the rest of his life and he has no choice but to burn through his greatly diminished stack until he eventually goes broke. He can't even use it as principal to passively generate interest. If he ever tries to do anything to earn another dollar in any way, he will be instantly shot in the head. Damn, he's in big trouble now!
Finally, let's just assume that Elon Musk has totally absurd fixed expenses totaling $40 million dollars every single week and there's absolutely nothing he can do to cut that down by even a single penny (no one on Earth lives a life remotely that expensive including other deeply hated billionaires who are constantly threatened with assassination like Vladimir Putin, but fuck it we're going full retard here). Wow, this is getting really really bad!
To summarize: In this dumb-as-fuck hypothetical, Elon Musk literally HAS to blow through $2 BILLION DOLLARS EVERY SINGLE YEAR FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE JUST TO SURVIVE, and there's absolutely NOTHING he can do to cut that down or to earn even a single cent more than he will have in hand in cash after we chop his current fortune in half. Elon is financially megafukt in every single way imaginable to a degree that far surpasses anything that could ever actually happen to him IRL even in an absolute worst case scenario.
...he'll still be an unfathomably wealthy *multi*-billionaire living a life of insane luxury beyond anything you could ever imagine in your wildest dreams if he makes it to 142 years old.
