The vast majority of territory taken by russia came in the first couple of months in the war. It would have been a different war with some prep time. But everyone got it wrong with the exception of the US. Putin told very few people, which kept the whole world guessing but also fucked up the russian military's plans (no one in the military was ready for war). Wonder how the US has been so spot on.
