so far he's managed to get the border under control (good), not deport very many people, and lose on a bunch of injunctions against other good things he has tried to do.

if he's willing to ignore the courts to get things done, i wish him the best and will support that, but otherwise he is going to need congress to make much of what he has already tried stick. and if his approval ratings are in the 30s, outright ignoring the courts will be much harder.

guess what he did? absolutely nothing, as that NLRB member went back to her office. when he fired her, he crippled the NLRB. but thanks to the courts, the agency is fully functioning with a Dem majority.

regardless of their pretensions to sit high atop a pillar of scholarship, SCOTUS justices are pragmatic and most of them likely think that giving the president unfettered power is a bad outcome. particularly where the other party is bound to win at some point.

so if trump's approval ratings go into the toilet and congress turns on him, trump is in a bind unless SCOTUS embraces his "president can do whatever he wants" theory, which it likely will not do.
