the debate to be had there is whether or not the ends justify the means regarding idk we'll say "MAGA" personal attitudes towards migrants in the process of politicking towards the end-goal, enforcement of immigration laws (which i think is sensible personally, even if it does suck for migrants with some "common status". shouldn't have opened the borders to begin with)

Normally this is the kind of person I'd actually like and respect, because he's such a clear-eyed and practical and ruthless person. But he's willing to burn down the entire world just so he himself can get power and influence. This is too much. i don't think he's particularly serious either but he does "okay" as a touchstone on the road to something different. i find what he's done impressive in the sense that his following is constituted of mostly organic youth support and that he wasn't afraid to fire off against trump during the 2024 election (and still is, i think). the "tradcath" stuff is kind of silly and artificial (traditional? catholicism? 🤣) and i don't take that super seriously no matter who's into it. religious chauvinism is unfortunately a non-starter in the US due to whatever you'd call what the "culture of women" here has mutated into.

not to be a doomer or whatever but i think and have found that the market liberal system that oversees what can and can't be done in US politics is much more "total" and profuse than people just getting into politics seem to think. the only real group with enough elite and institutional support to break free atm are DSA types, and while i hate zohran's gay race communism policy i still hope that he wins so that *something* other than "more money for rich people" political policy is happening in the US and especially on the east coast.
