Every Changan, Emgrand, and Geely I've ridden in has been easy to get in and out of and no chance of hitting my head on the ceiling. Most Toyotas and Hyundais are a nightmare. Tiny door holes, total contortion to get in, and frequently unable to sit straight once inside.

That's probably it, China observes others' mistakes and learns from them. The tariffs were increased by Biden to protect US EV production, apparently, but China still might be competitive in getting its stuff to the US.
