And just when it seemed like the briefing couldn’t pack in any more bombshells, Bessent closed with a game-changing announcement for American industry.
Full expensing for factories is coming—and it’s retroactive to January 20th.
“One of the most powerful parts of President Trump’s 2017 tax bill was full expensing of equipment,” Bessent said.
“We are going to make that, as President Trump said in his speech to Congress, retroactive to January 20th.”
But now, the program is expanding beyond just equipment.
“The other thing we are looking to add is full expensing for factories,” Bessent said.
“So bring your factory back. You can fully expense the equipment and the building.”
Combined with sweeping deregulation, cheap energy, and policy certainty, it’s a clear message to the world: America is back in business.
The goal is simple—make it easier and more profitable to build in America than anywhere else on Earth.
And from the way today’s press conference unfolded, it’s clear: this administration isn’t just talking about a comeback.
They’re engineering one.
