both of their POTUS are BIRDSHITS and i beleive alot of the commanders in the revolutionary guard are too, its GHASTLY
Both the Supreme Leader and the current President of Iran have ethnic Azerbaijani (Azeri) backgrounds.
1. The Supreme Leader: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
While Khamenei was born in Mashhad (northeastern Iran), his father, Seyed Javad Khamenei, was an ethnic Azerbaijani from the city of Khiyabani in the Iranian province of Azerbaijan.
Background: He is culturally Persian but has often acknowledged his Azeri roots and is known to speak the Azerbaijani language fluently.
Significance: Despite his heritage, he identifies primarily as a pan-Islamic leader and a "Sayyid" (descendant of the Prophet Muhammad), prioritizing the religious and national identity of the Islamic Republic over ethnic politics.
2. The President: Masoud Pezeshkian
The current President (elected in 2024 and serving in 2026) is Masoud Pezeshkian, and he is also of Azeri descent.
Background: Pezeshkian was born in Mahabad to an Azerbaijani family. He has been very open and proud of his identity, famously stating, "I am a Turk" during his political career.
Significance: He previously represented Tabriz (the cultural capital of Iranian Azerbaijan) in parliament for many years. His election was seen as significant because he actively campaigned on a platform of ethnic minority rights and inclusivity.
