And if I hear *some airs* rather than hearing *some airs being played*, then it is les airs que j'ai entendues. I think it is because the entendre refers to the jouer rather than to the airs. The PP only agrees with a direct object, never an indirect object or other, and I suppose here the jouer means the airs are not a direct object. My explanation is logical, plausible, and consistent.
