Imo critics thought it was intellectual bc it was black and white and they didn’t realize smith was a prole Loser and the movie is about him (except he didn’t fuck 12 girls) and it’s the exact store he worked at. Like they thought he was being ironic or decrying NAFTA because it was 1994 and he was underemployed. But really it’s like “I wear a hockey jersey every day. I play roller hockey in the movie!”

You could almost imagine the video store having Saturn games btw. Almost.

Imo the Film is a warning about a future without Indian immigrants. Stores staffed by white guys. Bleak, Gen X nihilism. Kevin Smith didn’t even smoke weed irl. Let alone fentanyl. He played hockey in the middle of the day to stave off obesity and hang out with his friends. This would’ve been a bleak future and we are fortunate to have avoided it imho. In the current timeline, Indians staff convenience stores, Gen X is sedentary and doesn’t play hockey and has no friends, no video stores, and Kevin smith started smoking weed in 2008, and we’re better off for it.

Yeah I guess it got promoted cause the tastemakers thought “oh look here’s this authentic artist pretending to be Jersey trash.” Except he really was Jersey trash.

As Losers it is incumbent on us to drag him back into the crab bucket with us. A Jock would just see one of his Films randomly and forget he ever saw it immediately and forget the director’s name. He would see Kevin Smith and boner police and cslg and wily and Kiethd from JDU as roughly The Same.

I wonder if he fooled people cause his phenotype is *that* bad. Of course experts like ourselves can tell he’s Loser Clique. But he’s such a slob that a Clique Theory novice might think he’s a Scumbag. Like does Clerks fall through the cracks if he looked like a “regular” Loser.

Imo a bunch of boomer jew yuppies were sitting around and were like “this Film exemplifies Gen X goyim. A triumph.,” and a star was born. And whether they were being intellectually honest is up for debate. But that’s what happened. I think a more competent Gen Xer would’ve dismayed them and they wouldn’t have gone for it. Christopher Nolan had to come from England bc the Gen X curse only applies to the US for some reason.

The reality is so much worse than this. Jew Jersey is a jeet cesspit, Kevin Smith has been smoking weed for over a decade now, is somehow simultaneously obese and anorexic looking at all times, and has some faggy gay comic book store that nobody goes to but is probably "worth" millions dollars because it is the only remaining retail space that has not yet been jeetified and jew nerds will Go There.

Also he's probably secretly some lubavitch kike or 1/8th or 1/16th of one or something equally as bad and thus not even White.

Kikes suck so much it is unreal. Also indians of course but it's not even worth the effort of pointing it out.

the issue is he should never have made movies in the first place. Clerks should be a long running 30 minute weekly show. the Always Sunny creators realized this.

probably true. I believe comedy central was around at that time but thats about the only option. oddly enough Smith was ahead of his time. He'd be great as a youtube channel, or cheap streaming show.
