Abject retard here. Can someone plz explain CC airport lounge access to me?

I pay for like 3 "elite travel" cards and still have to guess wildly which lounges I'm allowed access to. I am a tall, good-looking and more specifically prestigious-looking white guy (think like a 30 years' younger neil gorsuch), so I don't mind squandering significant portions of my ambient goodwill with those around me by standing around like a doofus at the front desk of the Admiral's Club at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport and wordlessly pulling out my various cards in turn, followed by my first-class boarding pass (apparently domestic first-class counts for nothing?), as the increasingly exasperated quasi-flight attendant lady is like "SIR, do you have the AA Advantage Rewards Plus MasterCard? You need the AA Advantage Plus Rewards MasterCard to be here SIR." But this approach is obviously not ideal.
It occurred to me just now that I can't recall ever getting into a lounge by way of my CSR card (it's usually either my Amex platinum or flying int'l 1st), which is supposed to be this great fucking card. So I go online, and apparently I'm supposed to "activate" a separate "Priority Pass" -- which, first of all, why can't I just use my CC? -- and I go to the PP website, and the "lounges" covered are all weird fucking shit like those little airport massage parlors that you always wonder who the fuck uses (and, btw, I am obviously skeptical that a CSR/PP actually gets you a free massage, so what are you getting there?).
Why is there not a fucking LIST somewhere such that I can show up at an airport for a connection and quickly and easily look up what lounges are available for me to gulp down 3 beers/coffees at before my next flight? |

you're also not nickel & dimed as much if you have any level of status. I'm upgraded almost every time I fly, and when I'm not, I have an exit row seat on an A321, which isn't that bad and is actually more spacious than first. |

Some people also live in hub cities where one airline is clearly the best in terms of flight availability. Minneapolis is a Delta hub, so you are going to fly delta pretty often.
It’s a bad strategy to pick an airline if you are flying on your own dime. Better off just taking cheapest or most convenient flights. |
