Russia has barely been advancing along the front lines since January, and Ukraine has actually made gains in certain places in the last two weeks.
Russia has a GDP the size of Italy's, is paying 25 percent interest to finance the war, and their main source for hard currency is a social security-type fun which is predicted to be exhausted by the end of this year.
Meanwhile Germany is getting rid of their constitutional debt limitations in order to spend a *trillion* dollars on defense and infrastructure, and they just released 3 billion in direct aid to Ukraine that Scholz had previously blocked. Britain made a new 3 billion dollar pledge to Ukraine as a direct result of Trump's actions.
So Ukraine is fucked? |

Ukraine has a failing electrical grid, no economy, airplanes haven't flown since 2022, a bunch of critical infrastructure like water pumps got blown up, etc. Your comment on what Trump could allocate is even more hilarious since Trump just nixed everything include intelligence sharing. Ukrainians can't operate storm shadows (not from the US!) or HIMARS that they have on hand and Patriots aren't working properly because we cut them off. That stuff costs us pretty much nothing and we still cut that.
Like many pro-Ukrainians you know nothing about Ukraine. Right now is early spring, a time know as "Rasputitsa." That means most of the roads and fields are just mud. You're not going to see huge advances now. As to claimed Ukrainian advances it is mostly BS. They sent small groups of infantry back into Toretsk but these are totally unsupported. It is like 3-9 guy groups that then run in, plant a flag and claim victory. This isn't a serious gain and most of those are simply going to die or be captured.
The Russia has a small GDP and is about to run out of whatever is pure cope and we've been hearing that noise since 2/2022. Yes, any day now they're going to be fighting with shovels and taking microchips from dishwashers and washing machines.
Again, 3 billion is nothing. The reality is that Ukraine subsists on handouts and burns through money very quickly. Germany's spending is not going to be on Ukraine but on reindustrializing. By the time that ramps up in several years (assuming it ever does) Ukraine won't be around or will be a rump state.
Ukraine is totally and completely fucked. Not just a little fucked, but completely and entirely fucked. That doesn't mean they will collapse this week or next, but they have no path forward and a huge path backward. Meanwhile, Russia is doing very well. |

2. Russia hasn't been advancing a significant amount since January. Had the "Rasputitsa" started then? And Ukraine just retook most of Toretsk in spite of the supposed mud.
3. Germany will spend a lot on Ukraine because that's the smartest place to spend it. The best way to ensure that they have time to rebuild their army is by keeping Ukraine in the fight and killing Russians who can't be redeployed to the north. |

2. Kursk has largely collapsed in February, so no. Ukraine has also committed reserves into big counter-offensives (around Pokrovsk, for example), which have largely failed and cost tons of lives and equipment, neither of which they can replenish. But Russia is always happy to let those proceed and move into defensive positions. This bleeds the Ukrainian military dry at low cost for the Russian military.
3. You say that but Germany has also just announced that they can't send Ukraine any more military equipment. That was in the last 24 hours. So no, you're just wrong yet again. This is your idea of what should happen, not what is happening.
Overall, you're obviously following a few Ukraine flag profile accounts and know next to nothing about Ukraine or Russia. |
