In the movie seems like they fucked up big time by storing too many ghosts in the holding cell. When the EPA guy released them, all hell broke loose. Seems like this could have been partially avoided.
Also imagine the agony of the ghosts of being locked up in that hell.
Couldn’t they have taken the ghosts to like the middle of the Amazon and released them? Both out of safety and empathy for them? Instead look what happened.

Especially since they remarked earlier in the story that their place had substandard wiring. It was only a matter of time before the containment thing failed on its own
