Don’t watch football but I’ve never seen anything like this in basketball. Consensus top 5-10 pick dropping down like this. What did he do?

Fuck if I know. But after Coach Prime had Shedeur's number retired, I said "Fuck these people." Apparently some other folks said the same thing.

Yes - he’s very good at throwing. He makes shitty decisions, has not been coached hard to get rid of his bad habits, and hangs on to the ball way too long and seems to think he can get away with anything. He’s also extremely arrogant and comes with a circus. He’s incredibly unlikeable and very easy to root against. He's going to have to humble himself a lot and I don’t see any evidence that he can either do so or convince people that he’s genuine.

I’m very surprised that he slipped so far because there are other players with injuries or off the field issues (sexual assaults, fights, other antisocial behaviors) that don’t get tanked nearly as much for it as Shadeur did.

making shitty decisions is disqualifying by itself if he plans on trying to actually play as a QB in the NFL

"The Big 12 Player of the Year led the FBS in completion percentage (74) and ranked second in completions (353) while throwing a school-record 37 touchdown passes. He was fourth in the FBS in passing yards (4,134 yards).

He finished his career with 50 games played in four seasons and completed 1,267-of-1,808 passes (70.1%) for 14,353 yards and 134 touchdowns with 27 interceptions.

He threw a touchdown pass in 49 straight games, the longest streak in NCAA history (FBS and FSC).

He just the second QB in history with 14,000-plus yards while completing 70-plus percent of his passes. Of QBs with 13,000-plus passing yards, he is one of eight in history to have 100 more touchdowns than interceptions in his career.

Sanders finished with a 156.01 career quarterback rating in college.

He broke over 100 school records and finished third in passing yards, fifth in attempts, third in completions, first in passing touchdowns and tops in QB rating. "

how many bad decisions can he make with stats like that? i realize stats in college don't always mean much, but he's got some stats

No. look a low level d1 qb's (google villanova football or fordham or something) - those guys are just as good as shedeur.

He's 2d- to 3d-round talent, who had an outside shot at being draft by the steelers at 21 and an outside shot at falling to the 4th round. I'll add that his ratio of nfl *potential* to cfb *performance* is lower than other guys on the board, which always creates a little disappointment.

He (and his dad) marketed himself as a top-5 pick, turned down interviews and opted out of much of the process, which wouldn't be a huge deal if he were in fact top-5 talent, but he wasn't. That strategic error (charitably viewed, a high-risk, high-reward gambit that didn't pay off) then dovetailed synergistically with the view that he's an arrogant entitled problem child whose dad will be in the background constantly.

Some of this is clearly personal, don't get me wrong. But this is a combination of media overhype (the NFL never had the view of his talent that ESPN had), fault on shedeur's part, some overly risk-averse (and maybe petty) behavior on teams' part, and some bad luck.
