After reflecting on it for a bit I think that I understand girldads now. Imagine the same thing only she is your daughter. She is half you and half of the woman that at least at some point you were in love with. And she actually unconditionally loves you back unlike your wife. You are with her all the way from her birth, helping and caring for her the whole time, guiding her to eventually blossom as an adult woman
Almost all of the men in this position must feel much closer to their daughter than they do to their wife. In my experience this seems true. And there is definitely a sexual undercurrent to the relationship. Like I said, she is half you, half the woman who you loved, and you've developed closer intimacy with her than you have any other woman. All of these women have a sexual bond with their fathers too, even if he is a beta dork, that's just how women are, it's why the "daddy" thing is so prevalent
I don't think men in this situation ever make any "choices" about this dynamic. It's just how it happens and there was never any real agency by either them or their daughter. This never happened before the boomer generation because men never actually spent much time with their kids like they do now. Girls were raised by the mother and kids were already "adults" by very young ages and working and helping adults. Nowadays "dads" are like moms and it's really weird and unhealthy for everyone involved and leads to anti social dynamics like girldadism
I have more sympathy for these guys now but at the same time I am more hardened in my conviction that wifeguyism and girldadism are serious problems and threats to society. Realistically there's nothing that can be done though and society just has to collapse and be reborn into something else. Many such cases re: other problems |

People put all their eggs (literally) in one or 2 baskets and the kids get an overbearing amount of parenting. You actually need to have a lot of kids to account for a few being screwups or god forbid experiencing sickness or accidents. Primitive cultures don't even name their kids until they turn 8 years old cause historically many of them died at young ages. We are spitting in the face of God in every possible way.
