Sitting through an hour long episode of a documentary show about an engaging topic like a serial killer or a championship pro sports team in your hometown is still hard for a 95 IQmo because they will fail to retain basic facts in the narrative and will get lost several times before the hour is over. They would normally need to watch with someone else so they can ask questions and check their understanding periodically and would still probably struggle if you gave them a comprehension test at the end. i did a bunch of graduate work in cognitive science. you pass many people 95iq on the street every day. 95iq isn't that dumb and is certainly capable of reading at a 12th grade level. definitionally. the ones that don't can't read because of environmental factors (ESL, etc.) not because they don't have the cognitive strength to learn. |
