I agree with Medicaid cuts too but it's not like these people don't get healthcare. Over 50% of children are on Medicaid for example. They'll still come clog up EDs and NICUs and you'll be paying for it one way or another.

What we really need to do is ration care for people with extremely low quality of life (granny on a permanent feeding tube after 4 strokes, cerebral palsy kid dependent on a ventilator to breathe), but no legislator seems to be touching that

palative doc friend of mine is always talking about that. apparently its a pretty uniquely american thing that we pull out all the stops for end of life care. we just dont wanna accept death is inevitable.

this but tbf no one says "i'd rather just die, thanks." we could incentivize this by paying their estate some percentage of the average cost of end of life care if they forego it.

Lolno

There's no incentive to extend length of stay, this just increases costs for the hospital without meaningfully increasing reimbursement (hospitals get reimbursed based on a DRG, basically like a bundled payment based on the patient's diagnosis; it's not like a hotel where they charge you per night)

So think of a typical gomer taking up space in the ICU and refusing to die because of heroic measures like CVVH (continuous dialysis requiring continuous dialysis nurse), ventilators (needs respiratory therapist), and pressors for blood pressure (administered by an ICU nurse at 1:1 staffing)... Not what the hospital wants

The primary driver is always entitled american families who feel guilty that they only saw their mom 12 times in the last 12 years and are now incapable of letting her go when she's suffering

Usually you can convince some family members of the futility of further care, but some "sister from California" flies in and demands everything done

You see this a lot in Hispanic populations as well and it's because they're used to the government telling them paternalistically that there won't be further medical care. Here we let them have the "choice" and they'll never agree to pull life support and "kill" their family member

In the final version of the bill. Lots of drama where they were removed entirely from NFA earlier. Then the whole thing was pulled from BBB by parliamentarian, and then the stamp angle was added back at the last minute. But basically, looks like this will actually happen if/when passed.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5374948-senate-gop-gun-silencer-short-barrel-rifle-fees-gop-megabill/

There’s been breathless play by play coverage on ARFCOM, but haven’t seen any coverage here. And I know we have a few gun bros. So look forward to more cans and shorties if allowed in your state. I definitely want a SB 870, and if PSA starts churning out $99 cans as predicted I’ll slap one on every host I have. My bbl threading guy was a one man shop and he died, so have to figure that one out.

Big tax cuts for the wagecuck middle class ($200k+ income) at the expense of SNAP and Medicaid.

Higher child tax credit.

Much higher budget for ICE. Hopefully enough to conduct raids none stop in major blue cities for the next 3.5 years.

Damn i just looked at this - they're increasing the child tax break from $2,000 to $2,200?

Wtf happened to to the $5,000 everyone was promising in the race? This is supposed to incentivize people to have kids? An extra $200?

Trump doubled it with the original tax cuts from $1000 to $2000 and this increases it another $200. There’s also $1000 for newborns.

The big cuts are for the tax brackets over $200k and for those in high tax states due to SALT cap increase.
