There's a chance Kamala has fought Trump to a close enough draw that they can cheat to make up the margin.
More importantly, Kamala is at least plausible enough that she's energized the base enough to turn out. The problem was never that Biden couldn't win it was that he was going to sink every otehr Democrat along with him. |

this situation is very reminiscent of ginsburg. you've got someone who is clearly living on borrowed time insisting on staying in power, and if they flame out at the wrong time it'll be a disaster. in response, they accuse the critics of engaging in conspiracy theories and that the person is totally fine. eventually, it turns out they're not, and they're fucked.
it's really 180. it's both quintessentially boomer and lib behavior. boomers holding onto power and breaking promises for purely selfish and prideful reasons. libs refusing to criticize their own people and being hoisted by their own petards as a result. |
