Is that based on the King book? I haven't really been keeping up with your Maine compatriot for a while--I think the last stuff of his that I really liked was Bazaar of Bad Dreams, which was very good, and I started 11/22/63 and liked it but got distracted by something or other
Still love King, he's a huge influence on my writing and reading
I don't have Max but if I get it I will check it out.

Yes, based on the king book. I don't follow King closely honestly, but reasonably enjoy most of his stuff when I come across it.
More atmospheric/creeping dread/dark than truly "scary" in any way, but really a fantastic series. Great acting.
Every couple years I sub to Max at a promo rate for a couple months, binge what I want to watch, then cancel once the promo runs out. This series is 10 episodes and I got through them in two days.

you'd probably enjoy legend of hell house from 1973. mostly a straightforward haunted house tale, but darker and moodier than most. there was also a BBC playhouse version of the sartre play no exit from the 60's called 'In Camera,' which is kind of a psychological horror film, especially if you haven't seen the play before.
also, one thing i notice is that there are a shitload of richard matheson adaptations. most of which i have not seen. i picked one called 'The Stranger Within' which was made into a 1974 TV movie, and it was okay, within the constraints of its format.
and depending on how broadly you define 'horror,' the film 'A New Life' from 2002 might be interesting. it was one of the french new extremity movies from back then, except that it was set in an unnamed eastern european shithole, and the premise is that a foreign visitor gradually goes insane as he meets a sex slave and tries to buy her from her pimps.

I need to see both--definitely Legend of Hell House. I read the book and loved it, although I assume the movie is tamer on the perverse sexuality aspect.

Trilogy of Terror is pretty good.

That sounds good; I like the New French Extremity. Sounds horror-adjacent.

The Mortuary Collection
I noticed this wasn't in your horror anthology ratings list

Not "horror" but supposedly quite disturbing:

Yes!
It's horrific, even if some of the science behind it is a bit overblown w/r/t nuclear winter.
The hospital sequence is truly harrowing.
For a really bad time, I also recommend The War Game which is a 1965 mockumentary in a similar vein, although it plays it a little less straight and with more angry dark humor
And if you want an INCREDIBLY bad time. . . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_the_Wind_Blows_(1986_film)

Never heard of this; will have to take a look, TY!
TBH the description makes me think of The Dark and the Wicked which I really did not care for*, but this looks good.
*I still think it's worth a watch, I just don't like dour, sour horror that thinks it's being cruel when it feels more motivationless--and I get 'motivationless' is the point but the movie should have leaned more into either a) they really don't deserve this and it's really horrible or, more intriguingly, b) they actually DO deserve this, even if they don't, really.

Another one if you haven't seen it. Safe.
Early Todd Haynes psychological horror. Maybe my favorite Julianne Moore performance.

if you've never watched the Leprechaun movies--do it. I would only omit the recent remake/reboot. the older ones are A+ especially enjoyed Leprechaun 'n da Hood and Leprechaun in Space.
edit:
if you want something really out there:

I can't vouch for this but I've heard about it, I don't know that I could stand it but to each there own.
