Trump, I don't really like travelling to the US, it's a bit boring, but I confess that there are some commendable things. I like going to the black neighbourhoods of Washington, where I saw an entire fight in the US capital between blacks and Latinos with barricades, which seemed like nonsense to me, because they should join together.
I confess that I like Walt Whitman and Paul Simon and Noam Chomsky and Miller
I confess that Sacco and Vanzetti, who have my blood, are memorable in the history of the USA and I follow them. They were murdered by labor leaders with the electric chair, the fascists who are within the USA as well as within my country
I don't like your oil, Trump, you're going to wipe out the human species because of greed. Maybe one day, over a glass of whiskey, which I accept, despite my gastritis, we can talk frankly about this, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race and I'm not, nor is any Colombian.
So if you know someone who is stubborn, that's me, period. You can try to carry out a coup with your economic strength and your arrogance, like they did with Allende. But I will die in my law, I resisted torture and I resist you. I don't want slavers next to Colombia, we already had many and we freed ourselves. What I want next to Colombia are lovers of freedom. If you can't accompany me, I'll go elsewhere. Colombia is the heart of the world and you didn't understand that, this is the land of the yellow butterflies, of the beauty of Remedios, but also of the colonels Aureliano Buendía, of which I am one, perhaps the last.
You will kill me, but I will survive in my people, which is before yours, in the Americas. We are peoples of the winds, the mountains, the Caribbean Sea and of freedom.
You don't like our freedom, okay. I don't shake hands with white slavers. I shake hands with the white libertarian heirs of Lincoln and the black and white farm boys of the USA, at whose graves I cried and prayed on a battlefield, which I reached after walking the mountains of Italian Tuscany and after being saved from Covid.
They are the United States and before them I kneel, before no one else.
Overthrow me, President, and the Americas and humanity will respond.
Colombia now stops looking north, looks at the world, our blood comes from the blood of the Caliphate of Cordoba, the civilization of that time, of the Roman Latins of the Mediterranean, the civilization of that time, who founded the republic, democracy in Athens; our blood has the black resistance fighters turned into slaves by you. In Colombia is the first free territory of America, before Washington, of all America, there I take refuge in its African songs.
My land is made up of goldsmiths who worked in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs and of the first artists in the world in Chiribiquete.
You will never rule us. The warrior who rode our lands, shouting freedom, who is called Bolívar, opposes us.
Our people are somewhat fearful, somewhat timid, they are naive and kind, loving, but they will know how to win the Panama Canal, which you took from us with violence. Two hundred heroes from all of Latin America lie in Bocas del Toro, today's Panama, formerly Colombia, which you murdered.
I raise a flag and as Gaitán said, even if it remains alone, it will continue to be raised with the Latin American dignity that is the dignity of America, which your great-grandfather did not know, and mine did, Mr. President, an immigrant in the USA,
Your blockade does not scare me, because Colombia, besides being the country of beauty, is the heart of the world. I know that you love beauty as I do, do not disrespect it and you will give it your sweetness.
FROM TODAY ON, COLOMBIA IS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE WORLD, WITH OPEN ARMS, WE ARE BUILDERS OF FREEDOM, LIFE AND HUMANITY.
I am informed that you impose a 50% tariff on the fruits of our human labor to enter the United States, and I do the same.
Let our people plant corn that was discovered in Colombia and feed the world

Wow, I'm sure he's going to stand strong and stay the course and now ultimately cave like a weak little bitch who is utterly dependent upon America for a million different reasons.
I can't believe Drumpfth picked a fight with the POTUS of Colombia... this guy really is a total idiot, you don't stir up shit with your biggest and most powerful allies like this!

I saw someone claiming that Colombia desperately needs to make massive sales of Valentines Day roses to the US. It's a huge source of income supposedly.

Valentine’s Day, a key day for love worldwide, is especially important for Colombia’s flower industry, mainly for exports. In Colombia, this day is less celebrated compared to the U.S. or Canada, as Colombians have their own Day of Love and Friendship in September. This makes Valentine’s Day more about business for Colombia, despite its lower local profile.
This annual celebration sees an influx of Colombian flowers adorning countless homes, offices and events throughout the U.S. and Canada. Known for their varied color, exceptional quality and longevity, Colombian flowers have become synonymous with romance and affection around the world.
In the weeks before February 14, Colombia’s flower industry enters a period of intense activity, preparing to fulfill an increased demand for roses, carnations, orchids, and many other flowers. Thanks to its favorable weather and a long-standing tradition of growing flowers, Colombia stands as a leading global exporter of cut flowers. It provides around 80% of the blooms sold in the United States for Valentine’s Day.
Important Colombian industry
The path flowers take from Colombian farms to U.S. households showcases Colombia’s commitment to quality and environmental care. In Colombia, flower farms follow rigorous environmental guidelines, using advanced methods to reduce their impact on nature while increasing the production of blooms.
Through responsible practices such as water conservation, integrated pest management and the use of renewable energy, these farms ensure the preservation of Colombia’s rich biodiversity while meeting global demand.
The impact of the Colombian floral industry on the U.S. market is profound, with millions of stems crossing borders each year. In 2023 alone, Colombia exported more than 500 million flowers to the United States for Valentine’s Day celebrations, demonstrating the important role the country plays in shaping one of the most romantic days of the year.
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, Colombian flowers serve as ambassadors of culture and heritage, reflecting the passion and warmth of the Colombian people. Each flower tells a story of dedication, craftsmanship and love, embodying the essence of romance cherished by people around the world.
Exports of Colombian flowers to the U.S. and Canada for Valentine’s Day
In the United States, Colombian flowers have become a staple of Valentine’s Day traditions, adorning bouquets, arrangements and floral displays that are exchanged between loved ones. Whether it’s a single red rose symbolizing deep affection or a vibrant bouquet expressing eternal devotion, Colombian flowers convey emotions that transcend language and borders.
Between the two countries, around 700 million flowers are imported from Colombia, coming from the Bogota and Medellin regions and arriving in the United States through the Miami airport. According to the Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP), 90% of the roses and other flowers (totalling 18,000 tons) sold on Valentine’s Day pass through this U.S. airport, from where they leave for their final destinations throughout the country.
Preparing for a day like today requires at least a month of work. According to Avianca and Latam airlines, quoted by the newspaper El Tiempo, around 515 flights have arrived at the Miami airport with shipments of flowers chartered by the two major Latin American airlines.

Employment generation in Colombia
This type of shipments requires special care, taking into account the delicacy of the product, its expiration date and possible pests that require strict sanitary controls. This makes it necessary to have impressive logistics for cultivation, selection, controls, packaging and shipping. In Colombia, Valentine’s Day generates around 200,000 jobs, mainly for women, and 60% of the profitability of flower exporting companies.
By region, 79% of the area cultivated by the Colombian flower industry is located in the Bogota savannah, 17% in Antioquia and 4% in other departments, including Valle del Cauca and Coffee region. Thus, the periphery surrounding the country’s capital is where most of this important industry for Colombia is located.
Since the beginning of the year, activity in the cultivation centers has been frenetic. Starting today, a break will precede a new cycle of high activity, coinciding with Mother’s Day, during the month of May.
