they ended up giving me some ic role that would report on one specific thing to a bod committee, but other than that i mostly twirled my thumbs and collected a paycheck for ~18 months (pandemic timeframe).
last straw was when i was hiring for a technical role and 19 of the 21 resumes were all black nigerians from philly or baltimore. i asked hr if these were all the applicants and they (likely lied) and said yes. almost certainly hr gave them model answers to the interview questions because i had two candidates repeat, word for word, an answer to me.
during that time a woman was promoted to ceo, black gc given another c-level title and they hired another black gc, and in general the c/evp suites were becoming filled with minorities and women.
i said fuck it and left 6 months before my relo clawback period was over and had to pay back 50% of it, almost $200k. |

New rule was that for any hire or promotion was that you had to submit a report showing that you interviewed/considered diverse candidates for the position. If you hired or promoted someone who wasn’t diverse, you had to write a justification why the diverse person wasn’t chosen.
I eventually left and am in big law now which I don’t love but at least there’s no real DEI stuff here. I’m paid/judged on collections and originations and it’s pretty straightforward. |
