Switch 1: Docked in the room full of guitars he doesn’t play, permanently connected to a TV like furniture.
Switch OLED: Dates, the good screen does social work while the games stay secondary.
Switch Lite: Courthouse waiting, light enough to forget it exists until it’s needed.
Switch 2: Docked only, bad handheld screen with ghosting so it lives on the TV where its sins are hidden.
Ayn Thor: On-the-go errands, instant-on emulation for five to twenty minutes of frictionless escape.
Steam Deck: In bed at night, serious games while horizontal and mentally checked out.
Xbox Ally: While driving; quick suspend-resume without committing to a session.
Xbox Ally X: Hotel rooms, long battery and long sessions in anonymous carpeted isolation.
ROG Xbox Ally X: Airports, brute-force Windows handheld to annihilate layovers and delays.
ASUS one (ROG Ally baseline): At home tinkering, drivers and sliders instead of actually playing games.
Xbox Series X: On the media Console untouched, symbol of a lost generation and abandoned intentions.
He owns many machines and none of them save him. They light up cleanly and sleep when told and wake without protest, which is more than can be said for his days. He is 6’2 in Atlanta and moves through the city like a man built for something that never arrived. He has two clients and a calendar that pretends to be full. He does not get laid, not because of fate or cruelty, but because nothing in him risks exposure long enough to matter. At night the screens glow and the fans spin and the games begin and end without leaving a mark. In the morning the devices are charged and ready and so is he, though ready for what is never clear. He mistakes ownership for momentum and confuses activity with progress. The room is quiet except for electronics doing their jobs perfectly, while he, Tall and ignominious, does not.
