If you're going to waste your life working, why do it for a pittance? Seems crazy
I'm hanging everything up when I have $2 million invested in the market. Need another 4 years unless I get lucky with some degenerate call options or something

To me, it's less about money saved up and more about liabilities. I'm mid-40's and my current NW is about $1.7M. But I currently spend about $1300 per month on my mortgage and close to another $1000 on student loans. Once those are paid off, that gives me an extra $2300 per month to play with and no risk of becoming homeless if things go sideways.
I'm currently a data scientist whose job is 80-90% remote. Once my liabilities are paid off, I have a tentative plan of going 100% remote and switching to part time with the understanding that I'm not expecting to join any meetings (or more than 1 meeting per week). Then I'll do the van life thing where I travel to cool places and spend most of my time hiking but write code for a few hours at night so I don't run out of funds. If all goes well, I'm about 10 years away from this. Wish me luck.

If I am 100% WFH because I am spending 90% of my day hiking and fucking sugar babies in random cities, I think I can handle it.

That's only principal and interest. If you add in property tax and insurance, that's another $600-$700 per month, but that won't go away when the loan is paid off. I bought in the 2000's and refinanced at 1.75% during the pandemic. Hence the mortgage payment that seems very small by today's standards.

its breaks. the phrase comes from surfers who need to find where the wave is going to break so they can slow down and reposition themselves on the surf board, i.e., 'hitting the breaks'
people who think it comes from a "hitting the breaks on a car" are prole. lol at you. major prole tell.
now why dont you make like a tree and get the hell out of here
