It's a fundamental principle that mens rea is required for a person to be guilty, and an insane person might not have that.
The issue is that these people think criminal justice is the only avenue to get those dangerous to society off the streets. But that's a recent thing. We should have mental health facilities for those people along with all the deranged hobos out there.
Also while I think Clancy is guilty I'm not clutching my pearls if she goes free. The case isn't that important and it's not like Trayvon or Zimmerman that taps into some important social issue. People who think women are going to let murdering moms of en masse are hysterical. First of all it's a rare event, second retarded juries let murderous didnus off the hook all the time. That's the price we pay for a justice system with such a high bar for guilt, which I support.
