I think the road has forked into a few different paths, but you're not wrong.
The center of the problem is there aren't any riffs, so everything is a generic template of whatever that subgenre sounds like. |

Part of musical interest is related to one's age as well. It's natural to latch on to the familiar and scorn anything new or different. |
