obviously the hype was pretty high, but even so I found it pretty damn good playing on hard. I died a fuckload starting about halfway in until I started actually using strategy instead of just playing halo, and even then there are some tricky battles. Considering how 180 the final fight is though they could've thrown in more similar fights, because there's definitely a stretch where the game becomes way easier right up until that point.

Not sure if I'm going to tackle 1999 mode, I'd probably get assraped. If it were a new game plus thing I'd do it, but I obviously missed a decent amount of shit even on hard. And it seems like you'd have to play perfectly to have money for all the upgrades necessary to survive later on

Its a bit of a bummer that the dlc seems to suck. Considering its not terribly long it would've been awesome if a cheap, large expansion came out

i enjoyed it too, though almost more as an adventure game than as an FPS. great setting and storytelling.

titcr

it seems odd they didn't focus a bit more on actual gameplay though. the final battle is proof these doods know how to design an excellent fight, so it seems odd there are so few throughout the game.

the gunplay sucks and playing it on hard just turns enemies into bullet sponges

you have to get at least some upgrades and use vigors decently on hard, although I agree does get annoying having to pick off enemies across the screen with relatively imprecise weapons. this is why I like the final battle so much, as it's much more dynamic

the special doods are meant to be bullet sponges to an extent though. regular soldiers go down pretty quickly

playing it on 1999 mode is actually a bit easier given I now know what the fuck I'm doing, and the extra infusions/gear from the season pass I copped for $7 during the sale helped

the dlc sucked though. hope part II is better but not holding my breath

it was actually somewhat easier this time around. since I knew how the game works, had the extra infusions from the dlc, generally knew where shit is, and simplying restarted instead of eating deaths the game was much smoother. the first hour or so where you only have shit weapons and no useful vigor is actually the hardest. it's much more fun gameplay wise the second time around imo
