Why are lawyers portrayed so badly on TV?

When was the last time you saw a TV drama where a team of lawyers heroically litigated pro bono to get a stay of execution for a wrongfully convicted retarded man? You often see the equivalent scenarios for doctors on TV, but for lawyers it's all just corporate machiavellian shit where the people are portrayed as amoral.
I'm not even asking for like a whole TV show where lawyers are heroes. I understand that the empathy gap is too wide for that to happen. But I would at least expect to see some lawyers included in one of those 'heroism' scenes that show medical teams, reporters and police working to resolve the suspenseful and potentially tragic situation in question. I want for once to see someone on a TV show utter the words "these kids need the legal team in here, stat." And I want it to be followed by a scene that portrays lawyers in an unambiguously heroic light.
